Impossible!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Do you really need that?&#8221; my wife asked as I dropped a dark chocolate bar into the grocery cart.<br \/>\n&#8220;One can never have too much dark chocolate,&#8221; I countered.\u00a0 She gave me a look&#8230;. &#8220;I think you have an ample supply,&#8221; she offered, grimly.\u00a0 Hmmm.<br \/>\nCurious, I set out to learn just how much chocolate I possess right now.\u00a0 Here is my inventory.<br \/>\n<strong>In the refrigerator:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 bottles of Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino<\/li>\n<li>3 of Dark Chocolate Raspberry Frappuccino\u00a0 (well, as long as I&#8217;m here&#8230;make that 2)<\/li>\n<li>2 bottles <a href=\"\/\/beeradvocate.com\/beer\/profile\/45\/680\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout <\/a>(excellent when served with.. Dark Chocolate!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In the freezer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 remaining sleeve of Thin Mints Girl Scout Cookies (I freeze them so they last all year &#8212; I should finish these just about the time the 2009 cookie sale commences!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>On the counter in my office:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 bars of <a href=\"\/\/www.lakechamplainchocolates.com\/Chocolate\/Five-Star-Chocolate-Bar\/Dark-Chocolate-Gift.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lake Champlain <\/a>54% Dark Chocolate bars in various stages of consumption, including Peppermint Crunch, Raspberry Truffle, Coffee Truffle, Dark Chocolate Truffle, Dark Chocolate with Almonds, and just a plain Dark Chocolate Bar<\/li>\n<li>(correction.\u00a0 The Dark Chocolate Truffle bar is now history.\u00a0 I needed something to eat with the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Frappuccino&#8230;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In my desk drawer:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 box Altoids Dark Chocolate Dipped Peppermints<\/li>\n<li>1 tin <a href=\"\/\/pressroom.target.com\/pr\/news\/consumables\/choxie\/factsheet.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Choxie Dark Chocolate Espresso Beans<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1\/2 bag Starbucks Dark Chocolate covered Dried Cherries<\/li>\n<li>2 bars <a href=\"\/\/www.cocoavia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cocoa Via Original Chocolate Bar<\/a>. This is a mini-bar &#8212; only 100 calories &#8212; that sports the tagline, &#8220;Promotes a Healthy Heart(tm),&#8221; so it&#8217;s really Health Food \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In the pantry:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 half-eaten <a href=\"\/\/www.godiva.com\/godivaCollection\/chocolate_guide.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Godiva <\/a>Dark and White Chocolate bar<\/li>\n<li>Part of a 85% Dark Chocolate bar from Russia (I can&#8217;t recall the manufacturer &#8212; but it&#8217;s awesome!)<\/li>\n<li>1 nearly empty container of Trader Joe&#8217;s Belgian Dark Chocolate Mini Grahams (I bought those for Christmas)<\/li>\n<li>1 half-full container Trader Joes&#8217; Dark Chocolate covered Australian Crystallized Ginger (technically, these are a vegetarian, low-sodium food!)<\/li>\n<li>3 <a href=\"\/\/www.generalmills.com\/corporate\/brands\/product_image.aspx?catID=23347&amp;itemID=24420\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fiber One Oats and Chocolate bar<\/a>s<a href=\"\/\/www.lovestreetlivingfoods.com\/v\/vspfiles\/photos\/chocolate-spread-2T.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Pure, Healthy Dark Chocolate!\" src=\"\/\/www.lovestreetlivingfoods.com\/v\/vspfiles\/photos\/chocolate-spread-2T.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"148\" height=\"148\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>2 bars <a href=\"https:\/\/www.larabar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Larabar Jocolat<\/a> (chocolate) pure organic chocolate food bar (fabulous!\u00a0 made with dates, almonds, walnuts, cashews and cocoa)<\/li>\n<li>Part of a <a href=\"\/\/www.chuaochocolatier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chuao Spicy Maya<\/a> &#8212; 60% dark chocolate bar infused with pasilla chile and cayenne pepper<\/li>\n<li>1 jar <a href=\"\/\/www.lovestreetlivingfoods.com\/Organic-Raw-Vegan-Chocolate-Spread-p\/chocolate-spread.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Love Street Living Foods 100% organic Raw Vegan Chocolate Spread<\/a> w\/ Agave Nectar **This truly IS a healthy food!**<\/li>\n<li>1 half-full Jar <a href=\"\/\/www.nutellausa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nutella <\/a>hazelnut and cocoa spread<\/li>\n<li>1 jar Pure Ohio Creamed Honey Spread, Chocolate flavor, from Ambrose Honeyworks, a local bee farm<\/li>\n<li>1 Trader Joe&#8217;s 72% DARK Belgian Chocolate bar<\/li>\n<li>1 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chocolatebar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Endangered Species Chocolate bar<\/a>; 70% Dark Chocolate w\/ Raspberries<\/li>\n<li>1 bag Dark Chocolate covered Pretzels from <a href=\"\/\/bellaschocolate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bella Chocolates <\/a>(a local chocolatier)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In my Coffee Corner:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 Tin Trader Joe&#8217;s Sipping Chocolate mix<\/li>\n<li>1 nearly-empty tin of Starbucks Mocha Powder (sporting the tagline: &#8220;when coffee dreams, it dreams of chocolate&#8221;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Oh, and this inventory does not count the tin of Hershey&#8217;s Cocoa or the bag of Nestle Semi-Sweet Chocolate chips, because they are technically not for eating &#8212; just for cooking.<br \/>\n<strong>Is it possible to have too much dark chocolate? <\/strong><br \/>\n&#8220;Too much,&#8221; I think, is an assessment.\u00a0 It feels like an arbitrary judgment.\u00a0 My wife is a sports fanatic.\u00a0 Is it possible, I might ask, to watch &#8220;too much&#8221; football or &#8220;too much&#8221; baseball?\u00a0 She would, of course, respond that it is not possible.<br \/>\nExactly.<br \/>\nShe is a consumer of sports, I am a consumer of Dark Chocolate.\u00a0 Sports is her Vice of Choice, while Dark Chocolate is mine.\u00a0 I call that a tie!<br \/>\nBesides, if there was NO Dark Chocolate in the house, I would feel insecure and anxious.\u00a0 What if there&#8217;s a snowstorm, and we can&#8217;t get to the store for several days, you know what I mean?\u00a0 Having SOME Dark Chocolate in the house makes me feel warm and secure and content.\u00a0 I&#8217;m a better husband, coach, parent, and Human Being when I consume Dark Chocolate.<br \/>\nSo I conclude that the amount of Dark Chocolate in the house is&#8230;.
