{"id":855,"date":"2009-05-12T16:15:11","date_gmt":"2009-05-12T20:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lifewithhappiness.com\/?p=855"},"modified":"2018-10-02T13:36:54","modified_gmt":"2018-10-02T17:36:54","slug":"happiness-is-watching-your-child-succeed-part-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theexecutivehappinesscoach.com\/2009\/05\/happiness-is-watching-your-child-succeed-part-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Happiness is Watching Your Child Succeed, Part 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My eldest child, Kelly (a regular reader of this blog), has been bugging me since I started it, asking, \u201cwhen are you gonna write a column about ME?\u201d\u00a0 For a long time I put her off by pointing out that this is my professional blog, not personal.\u00a0 Well, since I recently wrote about BOTH of her brothers, I clearly can\u2019t use that excuse any more.\u00a0 So to keep peace in the family \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 I will write today\u2019s post about her.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-859\" title=\"kelly-headshot\" src=\"https:\/\/theexecutivehappinesscoach.com\/files\/2009\/05\/kelly-headshot.jpg\" alt=\"kelly-headshot\" width=\"167\" height=\"193\" \/>This is Kelly Smith Gibson.\u00a0 After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she attended med school at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.\u00a0 She married a wonderful young man from Seattle in December 2007 in a ceremony that took place in the Basilica at the Notre Dame campus, which is where they met.<br \/>\nToday, she and Paul live nearby and Kelly is a first-year resident in an OB\/Gyn program that is run jointly by Metro General Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic.\u00a0 She delivers babies.\u00a0 Lots of babies.\u00a0 A lot of the babies she delivers are born to moms in high-risk pregnancy situations, like those who are very young, very old, and those who have diabetes or other complicating health conditions.\u00a0 Metro boasts one of the finest high-risk pregnancy units in the country, and I know that Kelly is very proud to be a part of the team there.<br \/>\nNot all is a bed of roses for Kelly.\u00a0 Students who graduate from Med School in the United States carry a huge debt load.\u00a0 I get nosebleeds just thinking about how much money she owes in student loans.\u00a0 Residents work 80-90 hours a week \u2013 including a LOT of nights and 24-hour weekend shifts &#8212; for not a lot of money.\u00a0 And she has to study constantly \u2013 huge big textbooks and journals and new research into exciting topics like female cancers and rates of morbidity for high-risk pregnancies, and so on.\u00a0 And hubby Paul just got laid off from his job last week as an Actuarial Analyst for a consulting firm.\u00a0 And the liability insurance premiums for Obstetricians is a scary number \u2013 OB\u2019s have to deliver a ton of babies each year just to pay for their insurance.<br \/>\nAND she and Paul are a very happy and engaging couple whom my wife and feel blessed to count as our friends.<br \/>\nSo, Kelly, this is your blog post.\u00a0 Now the whole world (of my subscribers, anyway) know what a great person you are and how proud I am of you and your accomplishments.<br \/>\nCan we be done, now?<br \/>\nAnd NO, I\u2019m not writing a post about your dog. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My eldest child, Kelly (a regular reader of this blog), has been bugging me since I started it, asking, \u201cwhen are you gonna write a column about ME?\u201d\u00a0 For a long time I put her off by pointing out that this is my professional blog, not personal.\u00a0 Well, since I recently wrote about BOTH of &#8230;
