I don’t create a huge summer reading list any more. but people still ask. So as I’m making my selections, I’m sharing. Here are some books I’m reading while on the beach this year:
For personal transformation, Daring Greatly, by Brene Brown. Everyone who has read this insists I will love it — about being vulnerable and showing up powerfully in the world.
To feed my need for post-apocalyptic vampire/zombie novels, I’ve got the paperback of The Twelve, Justin Cronin’s sequel to The Passage.
And for business, I’m re-reading Seth Godin’s The Icarus Deception, which blew me away last year and has at least thirty post-it markers sticking out of it.
And let’s not forget about my Kindle, where I’ve got multiple short books. I’m finally going to finish Bird By Bird, Ann Lamott’s classic on writing; and The Atlantis Gene, which is the first of a science fictional series on the origin of mankind — true escapist beach fiction!
Enjoy your summer as well.
Oh, and if you are still reading this message and are looking for some happiness along with your Reading List, keep going.

Here are three ways to kick off your summer on a positive note:
1. Smiling is the quickest path to feeling better. Put a smile on your face to activate your positive emotional systems.
2. Remember, you can’t change other people, but you CAN change you. And when you change you, you’ll notice everyone else shows up differently.
3. Nurture a Breathing Practice. When you take a deep breath, it clears your mind, calms your emotions, and feeds oxygen to your system. It makes you feel better and more centered in mind, heart, and body. Do it on PURPOSE several times each day, and notice how you feel more grounded and confident by the end of the month.
